๐ Chalice Fogger
The smoking chalice: twenty LEDs lighting the fog from below, switched
by a simple on/off radio rather than coded buttons. Battery powered, same
board family as the lanterns.
The radio is a switch, not buttons
Unlike the lantern, the chalice doesn't decode remote button codes.
Its radio receiver is a latching relay: your remote's ON latches the line,
OFF releases it, and the chalice simply follows.
| Remote | What happens |
| ON | the On scene fires โ white candle
flicker by default |
| OFF | the Off scene fires โ lights
out |
Because the radio latches, the chalice always agrees with the remote โ
even after a power blip, it comes back in whichever state the remote left
it.
Two fixed scenes
The web page shows exactly two scene cards, On and
Off. You can't add, remove or re-pair them (there are no
codes to capture) โ but the look of On is entirely yours: any
palette colour, any effect. Test works as on any
prop.
Want the chalice glow to match the lanterns? Set the same
palette colour and effect in its On scene โ or put the chalice in its own
group so a lantern config push never overwrites it.
Power-up behaviour
- If the remote is already latched ON when the chalice powers up, the
lights come on within a blink โ the prop syncs to the switch at
boot.
- Show-mode WiFi-off (see the main
guide) applies here too, but deliberately not in the first
couple of seconds after power-up โ so a chalice that boots with the
remote ON still joins WiFi and stays reachable.
Worth knowing
- The capture bar and add/remove scene buttons are hidden on this prop
โ that's by design, not a fault.
- The fog machine itself is separate kit; this firmware drives the
chalice's light only.
- On the bench, its web page behaves exactly like every other prop's:
palette, fleet, settings, firmware all present.
